Visited for the first time to celebrate my birthday and had an amazing experience. The food was incredible—especially the catfish and the best cornbread I’ve ever had, with a fresh, crisp salad to start. The vibes were great, and the live music made the night even better!

I had a wonderful first visit at South Restaurant. The food was phenomenal and Kayla Waters gave an amazing performance. The cornbread skillet exceeded expectations. It was soft and buttery and had great flavor. The short ribs, mashed potatoes, and broccolini also had great flavor. There was a great elevated vibe in the restaurant, too. I’m looking forward to my next visit.

Truly an amazing experience. The fried chicken was the perfect balance of sweet and savory with an amazing crispiness, and with every other element on the plate it weaved all of it together wonderfully. Overall, all the food was just the right amount of sweetness while maintaining the savory and they do an amazing job balancing the two especially with the hot sauce. And the music... unbelievable. Was absolutely smiling from cheek to cheek the whole night and the experience felt so intimate yet connected to the rest of the restaurant. It was a beautifully designed space that lays homage to their heritage and being there was a cultural experience I had never had before. Genuinely amazing and I truly hope to see all of them perform again as the music just felt healing. Truthfully, I’m not sure if I had ever been that joyful on that many levels and if you get a chance to come, take it.

We were shocked that we were able to get seated without any reservation because the place was so busy. Over the years I have heard many good things about this restaurant. It exceeded all of my expectations with the service along with the ambience and of course the food was spectacular. Every item that we order from the menu was packed with flavor and breathtaking! I will definitely come back to this establishment to dine again, overall experience was great!

Pulled up to South in Philly and got slapped (lovingly) by flavor. Those lamb chops? Fell off the bone like they had somewhere better to be. The mac & cheese? Illegal levels of good. Service was chef’s kiss. Make a reservation or regret it later!

The atmosphere is electric. I ordered Mango Salmon with mashed potatoes and broccolini. The corn bread and macaroni and cheese. The food was delicious and fresh. The server was phenomenonal she was knowledgeable, professional and on point. The jazz band from Chicago was amazing. Thank you so much Mike for making my birthday memorable. If you are ever in Philly please check them out. You want be disappointed.

Excellent service! We had to wait but it was worth it. I am addicted to their hibiscus tea. Cornbread and fried chicken were to die for! Loved the atmosphere and if you buy tickets, you can see the live band play but you can hear the music throughout the restaurant.

This place is dripping with excellence. You would never know such a beautiful establishment was behind those walls from broad st. Going to the jazz concert is a must. Food was amazing and service was impeccable. Went for my husband's birthday and they even gave him a shout-out and the cutest little card! Truly and amazing place I hope stays forever.
